THE CONTROL OF APRICOT SEED DORMANCY AND GERMINATION BY LOW TEMPERATURE TREATMENTS
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: Freshly harvested seeds of “Local” apricot variety were found to be dormant and did not germinate at all. A specific low-temperature stratification treatment was required overcome seed dormancy. The most effective temperature for breaking dormancy, germination, seedling growth 5°C cold (CS). Increased germination percentage recorded when the period prolonged. Seedling developed from stratified had better than those non-stratified seeds.
Methods: For treatments, with removed endocarp mixed moistened sand. Afterward, they subjected a 5°C. Seeds in pots 30 cm×40 cm. Stratified regularly irrigated once per week. To prevent water loss during upper surface covered by sack. following applied variety: CS 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, and15 days 1998 1999 years variety.
Results: Apricot about 15 reach maximum normal growth. Moreover, prolonged, some chemical constituents increased other decreased. Therefore, it can suggested that dormancy is coincided several changes different seeds. Some these materials (total, reducing non-reducing sugars, total free amino acids, indoles, conjugated phenols) such as phenols which decreased germinations.
 Conclusion: CS.

Seed dormancy and the control of germination.
Seed dormancy is an innate seed property that defines the environmental conditions in which the seed is able to germinate. It is determined by genetics with a substantial environmental influence which is mediated, at least in part, by the plant hormones abscisic acid and gibberellins. Not only is the dormancy status influenced by the seed maturation environment, it is also continuously changing...

Seed dormancy and germination are complex adaptive traits of higher plants that are influenced by a large number of genes and environmental factors. Studies of genetics and physiology have shown the important roles of the plant hormones abscisic acid and gibberellin in the regulation of dormancy and germination. More recently, the use of quantitative genetics and mutant approaches has allowed t...

متن کاملEvaluation of different hormonal and temperature treatments on dormancy breaking of Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) seed
Extended Abstract Introduction: Lavandula angustifolia L. is one of the most important plants belonging to Lamiaceae which has abundant use in traditional and pharmacological medicine. Lavender seed dormancy is one of the problems in producing seedlings which increases seed consumption. In this regard, an experiment was carried out to investigate different treatments for seed dormancy eliminat...
